WHI Tattoo Aftercare:
Always start by washing your hands and dried thoroughly. Then gently remove bandage. Using the palm of your hand, gently wash the tattoo area with unscented antibacterial soap and warm water. Rinse well and pat to dry with a lint free towel or new clean paper towel. Air dry for 10-30 minutes (depending on the size of the tattoo), then apply a thin amount of suggested ointment or unscented lotion. Repeat this process 1-2 times daily for up to two weeks.

Your artist will let you know if there are any additional steps you should take to care for your new body art.

Instructions may vary by artist. Please contact your artist if you have any concerns or questions while your body art heals.

Cosmetic Tattooing Aftercare:
It is important to not let the treated area get wet; avoid hot tubs & pools. When showering, do not get water directly on the treated area. Protect the treated area from sweat, animals, direct shower spray or hot water. During the healing process, protect from sun by wearing a hat or visor; avoid tanning beds.  If any swelling, the use of an ice pack covered in a clean dry cloth can be used. Make-up, lotions, or exfoliating products should not be used directly on the treated area. Protect at night while sleeping to ensure the treated area does not touch the pillow or blankets.

What to expect during the healing process (cosmetic tattooing)
The treated area will start to feel dry & chapped, DO NOT touch the area with dirty hands or pick at any flaking spots (some flaking of the skin cells is normal and to be expected. After the flakes have fallen off naturally, the color will appear lighter. Within 3-4 weeks, the color will resurface.

Long term care:
After the procedure has healed, begin an am/pm routine. For one month, use hydrating moisturizer that is free of anti-aging or anti-acne ingredients (asks your artist if you are unsure of a product you are using). Apply a 30 spf sunscreen to the treated area to protect against any premature fading from UV rays.

Touch Ups:
If needed, a follow up appointment will be made a month after the procedure. Touch ups may  be needed to make any adjustments, such as darkening of the color that may have healed too light or to add additional color where it may be needed.

Important Information:
· Avoid swimming or submerging in water for extended periods of time until the tattoo is completely healed
· Be aware that all surfaces have bacteria on them, especially cell phones, so new tattoos should only be touched with clean hands
· If there are pets in the home, changing sheets before bed is recommended
· Wearing loose fitted, breathable clothes around the newly tattooed area is suggested
· If any scabbing occurs, do not pick at or peel!
· Avoid direct contact with public work out equipment and clean thoroughly after exercising

· It is your responsibility to take these appropriate measures to ensure your tattoo heals.
